About the Group
The East Midlands RoADA group are a local advanced driving group offering advanced driving sessions and guidance to people who want to improve their driving skills.
We operate in the Derby area but recruit associates and full members as far east as Leicestershire, as far north as Chesterfield, as far west as Staffordshire and as far south as Coventry. For more information on your nearest group, please contact us.
We currently meet at the Markeaton pub, Allestree Lane End/Kedleston Road corner, Allestree, Derby fortnightly on a Sunday. We have two sessions held at 9:30am and 10:30am. See the Meetings page for the dates of our sessions.
Purpose of the group
The group was formed with road safety in mind and to improve the driving skills of each and every road user. We will show you how you can stay at the speed limit, get the best out of your vehicle and achieve the best grade possible to pass the RoSPA Advanced driving test. Once you have achieved the best civilian advanced test you will be retested every three years so you know you are still an advanced driver.
Why take the RoADA Test?
Statistics have shown that driving is no longer a skill to be taken lightly. It is one that is increasingly under review by new road layouts, new traffic situations, and new Highway Code rules. More recently, a drastic change in the DSA Driving Test has made it more difficult to obtain a DVLA Licence. A good driver will never stop learning, keep apace with the above examples and optimise vehicle usage to ensure little wear and tear. Safety features in vehicles have increased dramatically over the past years which may give some of us a false sense of security. There is one element that never changes to avert an accident; the skill of the driver in control of the car!
What do I achieve having done the test?
The RoSPA Advanced Driving test is considered to be one of the highest driving standard certifications that you can gain as a road user. Safety is paramount and is the key to Advanced Driving.
- You will be more alert of the hazards around you, aware at all times of the changing road conditions, make maximum progress within the speed limit at all times
- Able to show your driving observation by a commentary(which may be omitted for the shy, though considered an essential element of the test).
- Be able to drive to the Police System of Car Control
- Reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs.
- The ability to lower your insurance premium.
The RoSPA Advanced Driving Test - what is required?
A mutually convenient date is chosen between yourself and the examiner for the test. The examiner has a minimum qualification of a Police Class 1 Advanced certification.Your driving should be smooth, consistent, not rushed and within the scope of the Roadcraft and Highway code manuals. It lasts for approximately 90 minutes, which goes by in no time at all!!

Your result is graded at either a Gold, Silver or Bronze level and a full written report supplied. The test must also be refreshed, free of charge, every three years for Gold, Silver and Bronze holders to ensure that your standard never slips. This way, you can be sure of never failing to reach the standard of an Advanced driver!!

Our membership fee is based on a sliding scale from November each year so no one is never over charged with their membership. You only pay for the months remaining in your first year of joining us. For the current price, please contact us.
